When making deals, India, China, as well as Russia, are guided by their national interests, said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, RBC reports.

Peskov was asked how the Kremlin views the United States' lifting of the ban on India buying Russian oil, given its plans to appeal to China to reduce imports.

“Of course, we will not provide any quantitative data for obvious reasons. This is a first,” Peskov said, referring to the large number of “malicious parties.”

“One thing can be said: both India and China are countries that are guided by their national interests—and we [i.e. Russia] do the same,” he added.

According to the Russian presidential press secretary, due to the war in Iran, Russia is experiencing a significant increase in demand for its energy resources.

“Russia has been and remains a reliable supplier of both oil and gas. Moreover, both pipeline gas and liquefied natural gas,” Peskov emphasized.

He added that Moscow can guarantee the supply of contractual gas.
