Azerbaijan has submitted a preliminary report to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on the drone attack on Nakhijevan airport, the republic's Ministry of Digital Development and Transport announced.

"On March 5 of this year, drone attacks were carried out from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Nakhijevan International Airport, including the terminal building. The State Civil Aviation Agency has submitted a corresponding preliminary report on this incident to ICAO," the statement reads.

It notes that such a procedure is provided for, in particular, by the Convention on International Civil Aviation of December 7, 1944.

On March 5, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry reported that two drones launched from Iranian territory fell in the area of Nakhijevan airport. The airport building was damaged, and two people were injured. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry noted that Baku reserves the right to take retaliatory measures. Iran's General Staff, in turn, denied launching drones toward Azerbaijani territory, placing responsibility for the incident on Israel.
