Israeli forces carried out a targeted strike on a senior Iranian commander in Tehran, the Israel Defense Forces press service announced. According to Times of Israel sources, the target was Ali Asghar Hejazi, believed by Israeli authorities to be acting head of the Supreme Leader's office following the killing of Ali Khamenei.
The IDF press service promised to provide details later. The statement does not clarify whether Ali Asghar Hejazi was killed. Israel's Channel 9 claims he is dead. Hejazi had been on the list of possible successors to Ali Khamenei, the channel reports.
