Israeli President Isaac Herzog said the question of pardoning Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not currently being considered amid the war with Iran, in an interview with Fox News.

According to Herzog, court proceedings are effectively suspended during wartime, making the pardon issue irrelevant at this time. He noted that Netanyahu is fully focused on conducting the war. The president added that he could consider a pardon, but is legally required to wait for an official conclusion from the relevant authorities.

Earlier, in June 2025, US President Donald Trump called for an end to the trial against Netanyahu, calling it "a mockery of justice." In October of the same year, speaking at the Knesset, he proposed that Herzog pardon the Israeli prime minister. It was later reported that Trump sent the Israeli president an official letter with this initiative, and in November Netanyahu filed a pardon request through his lawyer.

The Israeli prime minister faces charges in three corruption cases.
