The Middle East war enters its eighth day, keeping the region and the world on edge while causing serious economic consequences for people in other parts of the globe. NEWS.am summarizes the key developments by Sunday morning.

  • Iran's Armed Forces demanded that Azerbaijan remove Israeli military personnel from its territory, the spokesman for the Islamic Republic's Central Armed Forces Headquarters "Khatam al-Anbia" announced. "We declare to the neighboring state of Azerbaijan, as a Muslim country, that in order to prevent the spread of instability in the region, it is necessary to expel the Zionists from its territory," Iranian state broadcaster quotes him as saying.
  • Iran has no problems with Azerbaijan, but if "something flies from there," Tehran will take retaliatory measures, Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani stated. Larijani also said that several American military personnel have been taken prisoner.
  • US President Donald Trump said he believes Tehran may itself be responsible for the attack on a girls' elementary school in southern Iran. The latest death toll from the Minab school strike stands at 165 — mostly female students, as well as parents and teachers — with another 95 wounded. Trump also said that after the war ends, "the map of Iran will probably look different."
  • Trump made another significant statement, saying he opposes Kurdish participation in the war with Iran, as Washington does not want the conflict to become "even more complicated."
