French President Emmanuel Macron called Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Al Jazeera reports.
According to a statement from the Emir's office, Macron confirmed France's condemnation of Iran's attacks on Qatar and other countries in the region.
"Macron also confirmed France's full solidarity with Qatar in the face of the attacks and praised the effectiveness of Qatar's armed forces in protecting people on its territory, including French residents," the statement reads.
The leaders of the two countries also emphasized the importance of ensuring stable energy supplies and freedom of navigation on key maritime routes, and called for de-escalation and prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic solutions.
