The Dutch government will send a frigate to the Mediterranean at France's request to help protect Cyprus and other allies, as well as ensure the security of maritime traffic threatened by the escalating Middle East crisis.
Earlier last week, the government said France had requested an air defense frigate with a command center to support the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, which President Emmanuel Macron said would be deployed to the Mediterranean.
