US President Donald Trump spoke to reporters about his phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Iran, Axios reports.
According to Trump, he had a very good conversation with Putin.
“He wants to be helpful [in relations with Iran]. I said, 'You could be more helpful by getting the Ukraine-Russia war over with,’” the US president said.
Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in the Middle East and the peace process in Ukraine with his American counterpart Donald Trump.
The emphasis was on the situation surrounding the conflict with Iran and the ongoing bilateral talks on Ukrainian peace with the participation of US representatives, Ushakov had told reporters.
Putin expressed a number of ideas aimed at a quick political and diplomatic settlement of the situation in the Middle East. Trump, in turn, gave his assessment in the context of joint action with Israel.
According to Ushakov, the phone conversation took place at the initiative of the American president and lasted about an hour.
