American strategic bombers recently dropped "dozens of 900-kilogram GPS-guided bombs" on underground Iranian missile silos, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine announced.

"We have also attacked several one-way drone production factories to strike at the heart of their autonomous capabilities," Caine said at a Pentagon press conference.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that destroying Iran's ability to launch and produce missiles remains a priority for US forces, with particular focus on Iran's military industrial base, including underground facilities.

While the US is making progress in eliminating Iran's missile capabilities, it remains unclear how the Pentagon plans to deal with another key threat — underground nuclear facilities where highly enriched uranium is believed to be stored.

CNN previously reported that destroying Iran's highly enriched uranium stockpiles is impossible through airstrikes alone, and that the Trump administration has been discussing the possible use of ground troops to extract material from underground storage. According to several current and former officials, such an operation would require a large ground contingent significantly exceeding the capabilities of a small US special forces unit.
