Iranian security forces are fully prepared to counter any potential US sabotage operations, a senior security source told Press TV on Tuesday.

Responding to claims by some American and Israeli sources about a supposed aerial attack and ground invasion of certain sensitive areas, including Iran's nuclear facilities, the source noted that Iranian security forces are ready for any development.

The source emphasized that this "window of opportunity" would be very suitable for Iranian forces to "either destroy part of the enemy or take them prisoner." "We have been preparing for such a day for 20 years. Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and some other places have been good ground practice for confronting such an enemy," he told Press TV.

The source also noted that Americans would do better to pay more attention to the bitter experience of the past and the deadly dangers that await them.

Bloomberg reported on Sunday that US President Donald Trump is considering deploying special forces to seize near-weapons-grade uranium stockpiles in Iran. CNN reported that such an escalatory action would put a significant number of troops at risk in a complex mission to secure or neutralize highly radioactive material. Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi had earlier warned that Tehran is fully capable of defending itself against a possible US ground invasion.
