The US is spending $900 million a day on military action against Iran, according to Senate Majority Leader John Thune.

“That's a significant number, but I believe we're well positioned. This is an important mission to complete, and hopefully it will be completed soon,” Thune told reporters, confirming the aforesaid figures.

The Washington Post had previously reported, citing sources, that the Pentagon estimates that the initial US strikes against Iran have cost $5.6 billion in munitions.

The speed at which US troops are using up their scarce supplies of the most advanced weapons is causing growing concern among some on Capitol Hill.

The Washington Post added that the White House is expected to request an additional defense budget this week, and it could amount to tens of billions of dollars.
