Israel's military and political leadership intends to intensify strikes on Iran, fearing that the US may soon stop the military operation and declare victory under one pretext or another, Al-Monitor reports, citing its sources in the Israeli government.

The Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, believes that the Jewish state will succeed in achieving its maximalist objective: to change the leadership of Iran.

At the same time, as Al-Monitor's sources noted, there is a split within the Israeli's leadership over the further continuation of the military operation against Iran. Netanyahu and the intelligence agencies continue to strive for a change in the state order of the Islamic Republic, but the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is skeptical about such a "maximum plan." However, the IDF has set itself the goal of inflicting as much damage as possible on Iran before the US stops the military operation.

There are still many problems and goals. Every additional day of attacks is a gift, an Al-Monitor source in the leadership of the Israeli army noted. This primarily concerns the facilities of the Iranian nuclear program, the production facilities of ballistic missiles and drone systems, as well as administrative buildings.

Supporters of the maximalist line towards Iran believe that even after the US stops the active phase of military operations, it will be possible to achieve a change in the Iranian leadership. This is planned to be achieved by tightening sanctions against the Islamic Republic, as well as by maintaining a permanent presence of US naval forces off the coast of Iran.
