The office of the Israeli Prime Minister told Turkish news agency Anadolu that social media reports claiming Benjamin Netanyahu was killed in Iran's response to US-Israeli strikes are "fake news" and that the prime minister "is fine."

As Deccan Chronicle reports, rumors about Netanyahu's death began spreading online amid growing Middle East tensions related to the strikes on Iranian territory.

Several unverified social media posts claimed Netanyahu had been killed or had disappeared.

The rumors intensified after a video address by the Israeli prime minister was posted on March 13 to his official X account. Some users pointed to a still image from the video, apparently showing six fingers on his right hand, suggesting it may have been AI-generated.

They suggested the unusual image most likely resulted from a misleading frame in the clip rather than AI editing.

Earlier, Iran's IRGC stated that Netanyahu's fate remains unknown, suggesting he "may have been killed or fled with his family from the occupied territories."
