Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Sunday he is ready for the next round of trilateral peace negotiations to end the war, Associated Press reports.

Zelensky noted that Washington and Moscow need to agree on where and when to meet. He said the US proposed holding the next meeting between American, Ukrainian, and Russian negotiating teams — which include US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner — but Moscow refused to send a delegation.

"We are waiting for a response from the Americans. Either they change the country where we meet, or the Russians must confirm that it is the US. We are not blocking any of these initiatives. We want a trilateral meeting to take place," the Ukrainian president said.

The US postponed negotiations it had organized between the two sides due to the Middle East war.

Speaking to journalists, Zelensky also warned of a "very high" risk that the US war against Iran could deplete stocks of air defense systems Ukraine depends on to counter Russian missile strikes.

The Ukrainian president said he lacks a clear picture of available stocks, and on Friday in Paris, discussed with French President Emmanuel Macron whether SAMP/T systems could serve as an alternative to American-made Patriot batteries for intercepting ballistic missiles.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine will be "first in line" to test any viable alternative.
