Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in a phone call with his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot, emphasized the responsibility of all countries to avoid actions that could aggravate regional tensions amid the ongoing US-Israeli war against Iran, Tasnim reports.

In Saturday evening's phone call, Araghchi and Jean-Noël Barrot discussed US and Israeli strikes on Iran and the current situation in the region.

The Iranian foreign minister stated that the sole factor and root cause of continued instability in the region and the Strait of Hormuz are the United States and Israel.

Araghchi also stressed the need for a responsible approach by all countries to the current situation and the necessity of firmly condemning the criminal actions of the aggressors who attacked Iran, as well as the importance of refraining from any actions that could lead to escalation and expansion of the conflict.

Confirming Iran's unwavering determination to defend its sovereignty, dignity, territorial integrity, and national security, the Iranian FM explained that Iran's defensive actions are directed exclusively against military bases and facilities of the aggressors in the region and should in no way be interpreted as Iran attacking regional countries.

The main cause of insecurity throughout the region, including Lebanon, is "the aggression and hegemony of the Zionist regime," Araghchi stated, adding that restoring calm in Lebanon depends on "ending the occupation and attacks and aggression of the Israeli regime." The two senior diplomats also discussed various consular matters.
