Iran's nuclear doctrine is peaceful, and Iranians have always sought and continue to seek to realize their rights to use peaceful nuclear energy, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated in an interview with Al Jazeera television.

Iran's fatwa—religious ruling—depends on the one who issues it, Araghchi added and noted that he is not yet in a position to judge what the new Supreme Leader's legal or political position will be on this matter. The Iranian FM noted, however, that as far as he knows, it should not differ significantly from Iran’s previous policy, but they will have to wait until they get familiarized with his views.
