An Iranian petrochemical complex at the South Pars gas field has been struck in airstrikes, according to the Tasnim news agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Tasnim reports that the attack took place on Wednesday.

South Pars is the world's largest natural gas field, hosting extraction facilities of both Qatar and Iran.

European natural gas prices surged during Wednesday's trading session, March 18. The price of April futures at the TTF hub in the Netherlands rose 1.35% to €52.26 per MWh, or $632.5 per 1,000 cubic meters at current forex rates. Prices reversed course after reports that several Iranian oil and gas infrastructure facilities at the South Pars and Assaluyeh fields had been struck by the U.S. and Israel.
