The Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows: The RA Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, made a startling statement yesterday in an interview with the ArmLur.am website.

“There is a company that imports gasoline from Azerbaijan, sells it [in Armenia] under the name of ‘European.’ It has been strictly warned: ‘either you declare that you are bringing Azerbaijani gasoline and transferring the money to Azerbaijan, or you will not be able to sell that gasoline.’ We will not allow [them] to play false patriot, deceive consumers,” the minister said.

The Zhoghovurd daily asked which company was in question, but the minister declined to answer, provide facts and names. However, the Zhoghovurd daily found out from its government sources that the company that is the author of the fraud described by the minister is the CPS company, which is one of the oldest in the diesel fuel market [of Armenia].

Zhoghovurd daily was unable to get a comment from the CPS company. Let us inform: CPS Energy Group belongs to Ashot Salazaryan, who started his business in 1994. During this time, the names of the companies have changed: City Petrol Service, City Petrol Group, CPS OIL, CPS OIL Corporation, but the brand is the same—CPS. It is one of the major players in the wholesale and retail fuel market [of Armenia].
