The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched an investigation into Joe Kent, the US National Counterterrorism Center director, who resigned this week and began publicly criticizing President Donald Trump for the war on Iran.

Multiple CBS sources have reported this investigation; the Semafor website also wrote about it.

According to sources, the reason for the investigation is the leak of classified information. There are allegations that the investigation had begun even before Kent's resignation, the BBC reports.

A few hours ago, Kent gave an interview to conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, who is also publicly criticizing the war on Iran. During the interview, Kent noted that the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, led to the unification of Iranian society around the country’s incumbent regime.
