The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has lost more than a dozen drones during airstrikes in Iran, Israeli military officials say, reports The Times of Israel.
They did not provide an exact number of drones lost, but clarified that fewer than 20 were shot down. They described such losses as acceptable in an attempt to prevent missile attacks by Iran.
The IDF added that there were no losses among the fighters, despite multiple anti-aircraft missile attacks.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran on Thursday reported that Iranian air defenses had shot down a US F-35 fighter. The fate of the aircraft is unknown, and it may have crashed. The IRGC also reported the destruction of more than 125 American and Israeli drones.
The US Central Command said that one of the aircraft was damaged but managed to make an emergency landing; its pilot is in stable condition.
A source told Iran's Tasnim News Agency that the report about the destruction of a second F-35 had not yet been confirmed.
