Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has appointed an acting Minister of Intelligence following the death of Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, Tasnim reports.

Deputy for Information in the Iranian President's administration, Mohammad Mahdi Tabatabai, announced the new appointment on X.

According to him, immediately after the death of Hojatoleslam Khatib, the Iranian President issued a decree appointing an acting head of the Ministry of Intelligence, which was communicated to the relevant authorities.

"Information on this matter will be provided in due course. All branches of the Islamic Republic of Iran are firmly rooted, and no task has been left unfulfilled," Tabatabai said.

Khatib was killed on March 18 as a result of US and Israeli strikes.

According to the Constitution, in the absence of a minister, each ministry may be led by an acting head for a period of up to three months.
