Azerbaijan has closed its border for the trucks coming from Iran, Arannews website of Iran informs, referring to its sources.  

“Azerbaijan is arguing that the trucks do not meet the standards. But in that case, why did they allow them to enter Azerbaijan and now they do not allow them to return to Iran?”, the website asks. 

The Azerbaijani press likewise covered this incident at the border. For example, the Bizimyol newspaper notes that the Iranian side also creates problems for the Azerbaijani trucks. The Azerbaijani drivers inform that the Iranian customs officers have started to carry out thorough inspections, and they condition it on the growing diplomatic tension between Iran and Azerbaijan.      

To note, Azerbaijani analysts are likewise noting the Azerbaijan has started to more openly speak against Iran. And in this sense, it is noteworthy that the representatives of the country’s ruling New Azerbaijan Party have suggested to rename Azerbaijan as “Northern Azerbaijan.” 

They also record that Azerbaijan has turned into a center for Israeli intelligence activities against Iran, and this greatly troubles Tehran.
