Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, “by his image,” is endangering the acceptance of the need for peace by all segments of Armenian society, analyst Argishti Kiviryan said.
“The problem is not peace itself or the promotion of peace, but who is promoting it and for what purpose. And the purpose is one — to retain power at any cost. In 2018, the man was promoting war in order to take and keep power; now he is promoting peace simply to continue keeping it,” Kiviryan wrote.
“It is clear that, proceeding from the fact of defeat, the nation should behave very cautiously, carefully, and limit its foreign policy ambitions. However, many do not perceive this, because this message is being promoted by Pashinyan, a man who came to power with diametrically opposite slogans, who preached completely different things all day long, provoked war with at least the Tavush events, and through at least incompetent and ineffective management of the war ensured the disgraceful defeat of the Armenian nation and ongoing humiliation.
“Imagine that after the end of World War II, Hitler had remained in power in Germany and then spent all day promoting ‘sweet brotherhood’ with the Soviet Union. It is clear that this would not only be unacceptable by the Germans, but the necessity of peace would not be perceived in any way. People would ask a simple question: if you thought this way, why did you lead us to slaughter, destruction and defeat? Just as they now ask Pashinyan — if you thought this way (and that fact that he thought this way is proven by all his activities and articles in his youth), why did you lay an entire generation in Yerablur (a military cemetery in Yerevan), bring about the crushing of the Armenian army, and leave no room for the former population of the NKAO and Baku to try to reach an acceptable agreement so that those people could remain on their land with dignity.
“So the problem is not peace itself or the promotion of peace, but who is promoting it and for what purpose. And the purpose is one — to retain power at any cost: in 2018 he promoted war to take and keep power, now he promotes peace simply to continue keeping it. He definitely does not need real peace with the Azerbaijani nation — by his image, Nikol endangers the acceptance of the need for peace at the current stage by all segments of Armenian society, and accordingly, peace itself…
“P.S. If Baku and the people of Azerbaijan want real peace, they should understand this…”
