Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei announced that the home of Abbas Kiarostami — the world-renowned, award-winning Iranian filmmaker — was damaged during the U.S.-Israeli bombardment of Iran.

"Was Kiarostami's home part of the alleged 'imminent threat' to the United States?! The truth is that this U.S.-Israeli war of whims is not directed merely against a state — it is directed against a deeply rooted culture, civilization, and identity. And yet Iran, drawing strength from these very roots, will bring its enemies to their knees," Baghaei wrote on X.

Kiarostami, who received the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for his film "Taste of Cherry," is also known for works such as "Close-Up" and "Where Is the Friend's Home?"
