Former Governor of Minnesota and ex-Navy SEAL Jesse Ventura, a recipient of numerous military honors, has called on President Trump's youngest son, Barron Trump, to enlist in the armed forces, the Daily Beast reports.

Ventura's remarks came as thousands of outraged Americans launched the hashtag #SendBarron on X, which quickly went viral.

"Do what your father didn't have the patriotism to do," the 74-year-old Ventura said Tuesday on the program "Piers Morgan Uncensored."

Ventura, who served in the elite Navy SEALs unit during the Vietnam War, criticized President Donald Trump's three-week war against Iran, which has claimed the lives of 13 American servicemembers and left hundreds more wounded.

"How can you send other people's children to war if you're not willing to send your own? There is a simple thing for a leader — and you know this because you served — Trump couldn't know it because he's a draft dodger, he's a coward, that's what: a war is justified if you're willing to send your own children."

As media reports, the 79-year-old Trump never served in the military and effectively dodged the draft five times, the last time due to a diagnosis of bone spurs.

The 20-year-old Barron lives in the White House while attending New York University's campus in Washington. He would be of draft age if conscription were authorized by his father and Congress. Ventura, for his part, voluntarily enlisted in 1969 after graduating high school and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, the Navy Expeditionary Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Medal for his service.

He said he was "urging" Barron to break with family tradition and serve in the armed forces.

"I want to see a Trump in the military. After all, he's had three wives, he has children by each wife, and none of them have ever served," Ventura said. "Well, Barron, you can change that. Enlist in the United States Armed Forces right now — do what your father didn't dare to do, do what your father didn't have the patriotism to do."

Ventura also mentioned that he had heard the excuse that Barron, at 6 feet 9 inches tall, is too tall to be drafted.

None of the president's children — Don Jr., Eric, Ivanka, Tiffany, or Barron — have served in uniform, nor did his father, Fred Trump. Trump's paternal grandfather, Frederick Trump, born Friedrich Trump, avoided mandatory military service in Germany when he immigrated to the United States, and was later stripped of his German citizenship after authorities discovered he had evaded conscription.
