U.S. President Donald Trump could announce a ceasefire as early as this coming weekend, or by the middle of next week at the latest, Israeli officials told Ynet.

At the same time, Israel expects that Trump will seek a one-month ceasefire or may even declare it unilaterally. Meanwhile, Israel continues to intensify its military campaign.

An unnamed Israeli official told the outlet that Trump wants to end the conflict, but if this effort fails, he may consider an operation to seize Iran’s Khark Island.

“Trump is intent on ending the conflict and, if efforts fail, he could move to take control of Kharg Island. Preparations for such a scenario are underway,” the official said.
