A military parade will take place on May 28 — the Day of the First Republic of Armenia — at Republic Square in Yerevan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on March 26 in a conversation with journalists.

According to him, it is not so much a parade as a “report to the citizens of Armenia.” He assured that it will be an impressive spectacle for the public. Pashinyan added that a parade is a very delicate matter and may create the impression of abandoning the peace agenda. “Therefore, we continue to work with international partners, including countries of the region, so that they do not perceive this as a rejection of the peace agenda,” he noted.

It should be noted that military parades in independent Armenia were held once every five years and only on Independence Day. The last one took place on September 21, 2016, before the so-called “Velvet Revolution.”
