Aishat Baymuradova, a Chechen woman who was killed in Yerevan, has been buried in Armenia after her body remained in a morgue for several months, Sputnik Armenia reports.
Under Armenian law, the body could only be released to relatives, but Baymuradova’s family refused to claim her and did not respond to official requests. The Armenian authorities — with National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan promising to resolve the issue — agreed to cover the funeral expenses for the young woman.
Baymuradova, 23, had fled Chechnya and went missing in Yerevan on October 15, 2025. She had gone to meet a woman named Karina Iminova, and a few days later, her body was found. Armenian law enforcement authorities suspect Iminova and Said-Khamzat Baisarov, a Chechnya-born man, of involvement in the murder.
