Iran has accused the United States and Israel of causing damage to 120 historical and cultural sites across the country, according to national authorities cited by the Tasnim news agency.

“The actions of the U.S. and Israel against Iran have inflicted serious damage on at least 120 museums, historic buildings, and cultural monuments,” the statement said.

The greatest destruction occurred in Tehran Province, where more than 50 heritage sites were damaged, including the 14th-century War Museum, the Sa’dabad Palace Complex, and the former royal Marble Palace.

Earlier reports indicated that the strikes also damaged Tehran’s 14th-century Golestan Palace and, in Isfahan, the 16th-century Ali Qapu Palace, the 17th-century Chehel Sotoun Palace, and the 8th-century Jameh Mosque. Additionally, anthropological and archaeological museums within the Falak-ol-Aflak Fortress in Khorramabad were destroyed, though the fortress itself, built between the 3rd and 6th centuries, survived.
