The Israeli army lost 21 Merkava tanks in a single day on Thursday as a result of clashes with the Lebanese movement Hezbollah, American magazine Military Watch Magazine (MWM) reports.

According to the publication, the heavy armored vehicle losses occurred during ambushes organized by Lebanese forces. The majority of the destroyed Israeli vehicles were lost in a single engagement that unfolded between the towns of Taybeh and Al-Qantara. The incident occurred after Israeli forces advanced to carry out a maneuver aimed at establishing control over the area.

The publication, citing a Hezbollah statement, emphasizes that the recorded losses are the largest suffered by the Israeli army in the past 40 years.
