US President Donald Trump has informed his advisers of his intention to stop American military action against Iran, even if the passage through the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed to shipping.

This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources. According to a report by the International Monetary Fund, the conflict in the Middle East is clouding the economic prospects of countries that have shown signs of a steady recovery from previous crises. In the event of a US ground operation in Iran, the latter will decide the fate of American troops.

This was stated by the First Vice President of Iran, Mohammad Reza Aref. “Trump may decide to send his troops to Kharg Island. However, in that case, the decision on their return will not be made by him, but by the Iranian side,” Aref noted.

The Pentagon has deployed a squadron of 12 A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft to Lakenheath air base in the UK for further deployment in the Middle East, according to the Military Air Tracking Alliance. The exact location of their upcoming deployment in the Middle East is still unknown. With their arrival, the US will double the number of these combat aircraft in the region.
