YEREVAN. – The average monthly salary in Armenia was AMD 113,000 (approx. US$ 291) in January 2012, the National Statistical Service informs.

As compared with January 2011, the average wages increased by 7.4 percent, whereas inflation was at 4.8 percent. 

The average monthly salaries increased at a higher rate in the state sector, with 9.9 percent, and they reached AMD 92,700 (approx. $238). The average monthly wage in the private sector is AMD 137,000 (approx. $352), and this is a 4.8-percent rise as compared with January of the previous year.   

In December 2011, the average monthly wage was AMD 144,300 (approx. $371), primarily because of the New Year bonus pays.
