Being a member of both the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the European Union (EU) is simply impossible for Armenia. This was stated on April 1 by Russian President Vladimir Putin during talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

The Russian leader noted that Moscow is completely calm about the development of relations between Yerevan and Brussels, but emphasized that Armenia cannot simultaneously belong to two customs unions.

“We see that there is a discussion in Armenia about developing relations with the European Union. We are absolutely calm about this. We understand that any country seeks the maximum benefits from cooperation with third countries,” Putin said during the Russia-Armenia negotiations.
