Europe expects strategic cooperation with Armenia. If the people of the Republic of Armenia make a choice aligned with our agenda, we are ready to collaborate closely. This was stated by Vice-Chair of the European People’s Party in the European Parliament, Andrzej Halicki, in Yerevan on April 1 during an event organized by the Caucasus Institute and the Adenauer Foundation.

According to him, the issue today is not what the future of Armenia and the region will be, but what the future of Europe will be in this unpredictable world. The European lawmaker highly praised the recent speech of the Armenian Prime Minister in Strasbourg. “Despite the crisis, Europe remains attractive. Because in the future, there are two possibilities: either we will be unnecessary, which we do not want, or Europe will become bigger and stronger and will protect peaceful development—the very thing we dream of,” the MEP said.

Halicki noted that 30 years ago, he was a member of Poland’s anti-communist movement and could not have predicted what the future would hold. “A better life is available to those who know what they want and strive for it. Seeing your activity and reforms, the fight against corruption, protection of justice, rule of law and rights, and democracy, we understand that we can cooperate around shared goals,” the Polish politician added.
