With the opening of the “Zangezur corridor,” a direct land connection will be established between Nakhchivan and the main territory of Azerbaijan, which will enable uninterrupted transport links between Turkey and Azerbaijan, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz told Azerbaijani media.

“In these conditions, a direct automobile connection will be established for our country with the [other] Turkic republics. In parallel with this, the launch of the Zangezur corridor will significantly contribute to the acceleration and expansion of regional trade and investments, as well as help achieve the target indicators of our trade with the countries of the region.

On the other hand, the opening of the Zangezur corridor, in addition to its positive impact on trade between the Turkic world and other countries, will also contribute to the normalization of relations between our country and Armenia. It will also enable the relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia to develop in a healthier way, and regional economic cooperation and integration will be deepened thanks to the unifying power of trade. This, in turn, will contribute to the economic development and strengthening of stability in the South Caucasus in the medium and long term," the Turkish vice president noted.
