Countries working to end the war in Iran have prepared a proposal calling for a 45-day ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

A White House official told CNN that Trump did not approve the proposal.

Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey have been acting as mediators between the two warring sides, but indirect talks stalled last week, and efforts to arrange a face-to-face meeting appear to have ceased.

The United States, Iran, and mediators continue to discuss a 45-day ceasefire.
