At an extraordinary session of the National Assembly of Armenia on April 7, a draft law amending the “Law on Audiovisual Media” is being discussed in its second and final reading.
Under the proposed law, audiovisual media operating in Armenia would be required to indicate when content is created or modified using artificial intelligence.
The draft was presented by the Minister of High-Tech Industry, Mkhitar Ayrapetyan.
Failure to comply with this requirement would result in a fine of 300,000 drams for the offender.
Compliance with the law would be monitored by the inspection body of the Commission on Television and Radio.
Some observers note that this initiative is clearly aimed at the head of the Russian group of companies “Tashir,” Samvel Karapetyan, who frequently uses AI in his promotional videos.
