Europe can push the US to negotiate with Iran within the framework of international norms, thus playing a constructive role in resolving the crisis surrounding the Islamic Republic. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated this during a phone conversation with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.

“Iran is ready to continue negotiations exclusively within the framework of international norms and rules, aiming to protect the rights of the Iranian people. And Europe can play a constructive role, pushing the US to maintain these frameworks,” the Iranian president said, his press service informs.

As Pezeshkian noted, it is the excessive demands and lack of political will by the US administration that are preventing the signing of an agreement between the countries, despite the agreements reached at the expert level.

On April 11, Iran and the US held several rounds of talks in the Pakistani capital Islamabad. But due to a number of disagreements, they failed to reach an agreement on a long-term settlement of the conflict. The prospects for progress in the dialogue between Tehran and Washington are uncertain. And the White House announced a naval blockade of Iran starting from Monday.
