In a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for the restoration of normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Chinese foreign ministry, Wang stressed that while respecting Iran's sovereignty and security, it is also necessary to guarantee freedom and safety of navigation.

He noted that the international community is interested in stability in the Strait of Hormuz, and added that China is ready to continue efforts to reduce tensions in the region and improve relations.
