Washington does not plan to extend the period for exemptions from sanctions on Russian and Iranian oil, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said.
According to him, this concerns oil supplies that were already in transport before the sanctions were imposed, and these exemptions were temporary.
Bessent stressed that the US administration will not restore the main licenses that allowed trading in Russian and Iranian oil.
The current exemptions for Iran expire on Sunday.
Earlier it was also reported that the US has extended a separate exemption for foreign filling stations of the Russian company Lukoil, which allows them to continue their work outside Russia until the end of October.
