There are widespread speculations that the state is allegedly refusing to grant Republic of Armenia (RA) citizenship to compatriots displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan stated this at Thursday’s session of the National Assembly, presenting the 2025 report on the progress and results of the implementation of the Armenian government's 2021-2026 program.
According to her, in 2025, a total of 25,670 people were granted Armenia citizenship by presidential decrees, and 19,367 of them were persons forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
“As of today, including the first quarter of this year, 36,676 people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh have already received RA citizenship. The total number of minors displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh is 28,000. 12,000 of them have already received RA citizenship through passport registration," added the minister of internal affairs.
