Secretary of War Pete Hegseth responded to US intelligence reports during a press briefing today that China is allegedly preparing to supply weapons to Iran, ABC News reports.

According to Hegseth, China has assured the US that this is not true.

US President Trump has a very strong and direct relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping. They have communicated on this issue, and China has assured the US that this will not happen, the Pentagon chief noted.

Hegseth added that although the command and governing capabilities of the Iranian leadership have been significantly weakened, Iran has a great incentive to maintain the ceasefire.

Trump and Xi are expected to meet in China in May. This visit was put off earlier due to the US-Israeli war against Iran.
