The US and Israel have not achieved their goals during their strikes on Iran and will not be able to succeed at the negotiating table either, Iranian ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said.

In an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper of Russia, Jalali noted that Washington's initial goals included regime change in Iran, but later its demands were narrowed down to more narrow issues, including attempts to restrict access to the Strait of Hormuz.

Jalali said that these actions did not yield results, and also called the announced US naval blockade "ineffective."

According to him, the conflict has only strengthened Iran's determination. The ambassador added that the US had previously allegedly agreed to the "10-point plan" proposed by Iran, but later refused it.

"What [US President Donald] Trump did not achieve through war, he will not be able to achieve through negotiations either," the Iranian ambassador to Russia said, adding that any negotiations should be based on mutually beneficial compromise.
