Some accounts on X are disseminating obviously false and manipulative information that US President Donald Trump allegedly made a post on Truth Social, reporting on a phone call with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The Armenian PM’s press secretary, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, noted this on Facebook.
“I inform that no such phone call took place. There was no discussion of such content between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and US President Donald Trump. The information being disseminated is false and does not correspond to reality.
The noted claim has the typical features of foreign information manipulation and interference, FIMI. In particular, taking into account its dissemination methodology, the amplified dissemination of the same content or related wording by a number of user accounts on the X platform, the circulation of a claim based on an unverified source, we consider as an attempt at systematic information manipulation.
We urge the media, public actors, and users of social networks to refrain from disseminating unverified information, especially in cases where it concerns the national security, foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia, and regional stability,” the premier’s spokesperson added.
