The Delegation of the European Union to Armenia has categorically refuted reports in the Armenian media suggesting that EU financial assistance to Armenia is being delayed due to the European Union's budget deficit and the prioritization of spending for Ukraine. This was stated in the delegation's official response to NEWS.am inquiry.

The newspaper "Hraparak" reported that, during a meeting on April 14 with Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, announced that the provision of the promised 50 million euro assistance to Armenia was being delayed. The EU had promised to provide this sum to Armenia, in part for "combating disinformation and foreign influence" ahead of the parliamentary elections.

In response to the inquiry from NEWS.am, the EU Delegation assured that no such matter is under discussion.

"We would like to categorically refute such allegations. There have not been any delays or reallocations of EU assistance earmarked for Armenia. On the contrary, we are enhancing our cooperation," the response stated.

As confirmation, the delegation cited the March visit of EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Marta Kos.

"The financial support package for Armenia was last discussed during the visit of Commissioner Marta Kos in March, when the signing of the second phase of the EUR 270 Resilience and Growth Plan was signed as planned:

Other investment projects are underway, including in the area of the private sector, regional development and infrastructure, and information about these investments and all ongoing EU-funded projects is available, i.a., on our site․

During the upcoming EU-Armenia Summit, due to take place on 5 May in Yerevan, further strengthening of bilateral relations is expected to be discussed, in particular connectivity in energy, transport, and digital, and people-to-people contacts," the delegation's response to NEWS.am noted.
