The UN Human Rights Council adopted resolution as a result of emergent hearings on situation in Syria, which ‘strongly condemns systematic violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms by the Syrian authorities.’

Thirty-seven out of 43 delegations voted for the resolution introduced by Turkey and the Arab states. Russia, China and Cuba voted against, while another three members of the Council abstained.

The document calls upon the Syrian authorities ‘to immediately put an end to all human rights violations and attacks against civilians,’ as well as ‘to allow free and unimpeded access by the United Nations and humanitarian agencies to carry out a full assessment of needs in Homs and other areas,’ Rosbalt reports.
