YEREVAN. - Armenian News-NEWS.am has ascertained new details with respect to the suicide case of Andranik Manukyan, the senior treasurer at Abovyan city’s post office branch of Haypost Company. 

Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Andranik Manukyan had committed suicide on January 12.  Manukyan, 49-50, was found fallen under the trees at Abovyan-Jraber Highway. After being taken to Abovyan Hospital, it was found out that he had drunk several bottles of concentrate solution. He was transferred to capital Yerevan’s Armenia Medical Center where, not having regained consciousness, he died.

On the same evening, when the news of his suicide was spread, Haypost’s management formed a commission, and conducted an inventory of the cash desk, during which a 17-million-dram (approx. US$ 44,065) discrepancy was found concerning Andranik Manukyan. According to the information Armenian News-NEWS.am had received, Manukyan had not gone through the criminal case that was launched in connection with the social security payment misappropriation. The suicide is being investigated along the lines of the criminal case launched into this misappropriation.  

Days before the suicide, the Goghtn and Garni branch employees of Haypost had received from the Kotayk Regional Branch a bag full of cash, but the amount in the bag was exactly half of the amount specified in the attached document. The employees, however, did not inform about this and inputted the amount shown on the document, the Police Force informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.       

And it was recently found out that one day before the suicide, two Abovyan and Garni branch treasurers had received bags full of cash. But there were only several hundred drams in one bag, whereas the other one was empty, in the case when several hundred thousand drams were noted in the document attached to the bag; and they likewise inputted the amount shown on the document.
