YEREVAN. – The ore crashing-sorting equipment will not be installed at Armenia’s Sotk Gold Mine if the environmental assessment comes out negative, Chairman Vladimir Movsisyan of the Presidential Committee on Lake Sevan Issues said during a press conference on Friday.

Movsisyan also informed that considerable activities are underway toward cleaning Lake Sevan, and as a result the Lake’s transparency has reached 8-11 meters, instead of the previous 4-5 meters. But, according to Movsisyan, this “shaky indicator” will deteriorate yet again if the cleaning does not continue properly. In Vladimir Movsisyan’s words, 1,048 hectares of lakeshore was cleaned, albeit he is not satisfied with the quality.
