The railway link at Armenia’s Jajur-Mayisyan section was temporarily suspended for transport, in the early morning hours of Monday, due to heavy and long-lasting snowfall and the up-to-three-meter snow accumulation on the railway tracks.

As a result, the forty-five passengers of the Yerevan-Tbilisi train, which arrived in Gyumri city at 2 a.m., had to spend the night in the train cars. But the passengers were supplied with bare essentials and additional heating, South Caucasus Railways Company informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

And the train returned to Yerevan at 8:30 a.m. The passengers can receive a full refund for their tickets. Also, they can use their tickets once the train resumes transit.

The Company is taking all necessary measures to clear the snow from the train tracks and to resume regular , scheduled transit.

The railway’s Jajur-Mayisyan section is expected to reopen on Monday evening.
