YEREVAN. – Taking into account that the dispute is between two major companies, namely “Armenia” International Airports and Armavia, the solution of the issue is left to their discretion, spokesperson of the General Department of Civil Aviation Nelli Cherchinyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

However, as the issue affects the interests of common people, the Civil Aviation Department took a responsibility to organize a meeting between two major companies.

“Besides, the company must take care of passengers and operate Yerevan-Moscow and Yerevan-Rostov flights, under these circumstances,” Cherchinyan stressed.

Earlier Armenian News-NEWS.am has informed that the “Armavia” declared a strike. According to its spokesperson, the strike will continue unless Zvartnots Airport changes its price policy.

In its turn, “Armenia” International Airports Company stated that because of the accumulated debts, Armavia Company is prohibited to carry out flights toward Russia and enter Russian air space. Moreover, it negatively assesses Armavia Airline Company’s inappropriate exploitation and its unfounded and false comments, and regrets that solely the national carrier has found itself in such situation.
